Master’s in Higher Education and Student Affairs

If you’re a student NASPA member or in the early stages of your higher education career, consider the MA in Higher Education and Student Affairs. This graduate degree prepares you for entry- and mid-level positions in student activities, enrollment management, financial aid, housing and residence life, student life, and career services. Full- and part-time study is available.

Master’s students benefit from:

·       Small classes led by seasoned professionals in the field as well as accomplished researchers and scholars with national and international expertise in college management; globalization; student learning and development; assessment; access and equity; policy development and analysis; and organizational studies

·       Curricular offerings that provide the flexibility to construct an individualized program of study

·       Paid internships at New York City colleges and universities, which provide extremely valuable practical experience and socialization into the profession (full-time students)

·       Unique opportunities in January and over the summer to study higher education systems abroad through our intensive global courses. Past locations have included Brazil, South Africa, and Turkey

Full- and Part-Time Doctoral Study in Higher and Postsecondary Education

If you’re an established professional seeking to further your practice or develop as a scholar/researcher, a doctoral degree in Higher and Secondary Education may be right for you.

The full-time PhD program is designed for students who aspire to conduct research throughout their careers in roles such as faculty members, government employees, policy scholars, or institutional researchers. A multi-year funding package is offered to all PhD students.

The part-time EdD program is designed to meet the increasing need for visionary and entrepreneurial leaders in community colleges, four-year colleges and universities, corporate-sponsored education, and government agencies. Candidates complete the degree in three years of continuous study, including summers.

Both doctoral programs develop your competencies in areas such as urban college leadership, policy analysis, student affairs, institutional research, fiscal management, and international higher education.

Students are admitted into our doctoral programs every other fall.
