#NASPAgives on #GivingTuesday

November 30, 2016 Amy Sajko NASPA Foundation

Your gift to the NASPA Foundation on #GivingTuesday made dreams come true

And here’s why…

At the end of the 2016 NASPA Annual Conference, Dr. Lori S. White was installed as the 2016-17 NASPA Board Chair. Reflective of her personality and professional excellence, Dr. White’s comments were bold, a touch sassy, and imbued with a great vision for NASPA.

Dr. White committed her time as NASPA Board Chair to elevating the four “I”s - our four guiding principles of integrity, innovation, inclusion, and inquiry. With that in mind, she approached the NASPA Foundation Board with a bold idea: let’s see what we can do to nurture our own member’s innovative ideas for campus practices.

Thus, the NASPA Innovation Grants were born.

Since 1973, the NASPA Foundation has funded research grants of many types and sizes, from small grants of $1,000 to our recent large grant of $35,000, for which the awardee’s research is currently underway.

The NASPA Innovation Grants have a different vision – focus on the practitioner. And they will be funded by NASPA Foundation donors.

How often have you had a new and creative idea for your campus, but the funds are not there? NASPA, in partnership with the NASPA Foundation, designed the Innovation Grants Program for just this reason. Conferred twice a year and to be used immediately, the Innovation Grants provide awards to support innovation, exploration, and development for NASPA members, regardless of campus membership affiliation. With three levels of grants of application round, ranging from up to $1,000, $1,000 - $3,000, and $3,000 - $5,000, these funds are intended to provide the scaffolding for NASPA members to implement innovative ideas that lead to student learning and success.

The NASPA Foundation’s goal with #NASPAgives on #GivingTuesday was to raise money to fund the first round of NASPA Innovation Grants right now – in 2016-17. Thanks to you, we can do that!

The 2016 #NASPAgives on #GivingTuesday campaign was recordbreaking! In just 24 hours, 141 donors gave a whopping $10,742! Add to that the $2500 matching gift, generously provided by our friends at Capstone on Campus Management, and we have a grand total of $13,242. Heartfelt gratitude to everyone who made this day a success.

If you want to know more about the NASPA Innovation Grants, or submit an application, more information is available here. The first round deadline is January 17, 2017.
