Goal A : To provide professional development to our members through the creation and dissemination of high quality experiences, information and exemplary models of practice.
Strategic Objectives:
- To develop and promote a framework for professional competencies, standards, and career development.
- To provide professional development and networking/mentoring opportunities through national and regional conferences, other institutes and workshops.
- To utilize NASPA publications and technology applications as vehicles for advancing knowledge.
- To promote and expand e-learning opportunities.
- To encourage and support relevant research and publication.
- To provide a wide array of leadership development opportunities.
Goal B : To provide leadership in higher education through policy development and advocacy for students on important international, national, state, and local issues.
Strategic Objectives:
- To increase NASPA's visibility, participation, and influence on national educational policy issues.
- To influence educational policy development at national, state, and institutional levels through research and information dissemination and, when appropriate, to formalize and promote an advocacy position.
- To support students' needs through advocacy efforts at local, state and national levels.
- To strengthen strategic partnerships to enhance public policy development and advocacy.
Goal C : To advance pluralism, diversity, and internationalism in NASPA and the profession.
Strategic Objectives:
- To encourage campus environments which promote civil discourse, respect and appreciation of difference, freedom of expression, inclusivity and opportunities for individual and community development.
- To exercise a leadership role regarding the educational benefits and accomplishments of affirmative action, access and hiring.
- To sustain pluralism and diversity within the membership and diverse appointments to the leadership within NASPA and the profession.
- To expand international dialogue and exchange among NASPA and student affairs professionals.
Goal D : To provide leadership for promoting, assessing, and supporting student learning and development.
Strategic Objectives:
- To provide the profession with successful models and/or best practices of collaboration between student affairs and other campus units.
- To support and promulgate research designed to assess the impact of student affairs work on student learning and development.
- To serve as a resource in designing effective strategies to assess student learning and development
- To provide student affairs professionals with the tools, language and framework to contribute to the central educational mission of student learning and development.
- To develop and disseminate approaches to the profession for developing campus environments that facilitate student learning and development.
Goal E : To maintain, evaluate, and develop a high quality association structure and national office to meet current needs, anticipate future trends and promote growth.
Strategic Objectives:
- To strategically develop and implement systems and information technology and deliver services and support members needs.
- To provide a sound and sufficient financial, physical and human resource base to achieve association goals.
- To engage in research and provide information to support the association's achievement of its goals.
- To continually assess and evaluate the association's operations and structure consistent with the strategic plan.
- To support and develop all structural components; in particular, regions, divisions, knowledge communities and faculty fellows.
- Anticipate and respond to trends that require change in resources, staffing and structure.
NASPA's leadership is provided by volunteers from member institutions who are elected as regional and national officers.
