SUPRA ET ULTRA AWARD
August 24, 2016
The NASPA VKC has a new Chair, Lauren Runco, and she has been making major changes in an effort to improve the efficiency, outreach, and impact of our knowledge community. Among those changes, are the addition of many new positions within the VKC leadership team. One of which is the position of Supra et Ultra Award Liaison. In my role as the Supra et Ultra Award Liaison, I’m in charge of marketing the award and securing nominations for the VKC honor.
The Supra et Ultra Award is presented to an individual who had been nominated by their peers and who has gone above and beyond their vocation as a military/veteran advocate on their campus. This person has helped or educated others on working with this unique population and has volunteered their time to make their profession or professional organization better. This year we have revamped how to nominate someone for the Supra et Ultra Award, and we have centralized the process in an effort to encourage more people to nominate those who do such selfless and outstanding work.
The NASPA VKC Supra et Ultra Award is reserved for a member who has gone above and beyond in their service to NASPA VKC and military-connected students throughout the country, and for whom the Supra et Ultra Award Selection Committee feel additional accolades are in order to recognize this professional’s passion and dedication. The award’s conferring will rely on review and approval by the Supra et Ultra Award Selection Committee. This award will be presented every year at the NASPA Symposium on Military-Connected Students, which will take place February 7-9, 2017 in Washington, DC.
If someone you know goes out of their way to support our military-connected students, I encourage you to nominate them by completing the information found here.
All completed forms are due to Bob Heckrote by November 15th!
Please contact me directly with any questions about the award and/or nomination process. Bob Heckrote, at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania.
