Why: 2014-2015 January NUFP Note

NASPA Undergraduate Fellows Program (NUFP)
January 12, 2015 Nathan Victoria NASPA

Life Hack Photo

Hello Fellows, and Happy New Year!

In case you didn’t see it, the NASPA staff created a New Year’s video highlighting the best of NASPA 2014 made possible by our members. Feel free to watch the video below if you haven’t seen it yet, and please share it with your friends and colleagues.

The January NUFP note is usually one of reflection and goal setting, but this year, I decided to go more to the root of the issue and ask my favorite question, “why.” If you saw the kick off #NASPAshares blog, you saw the explanation of my big Why. So NUFP fellows, I’m asking you, what’s your Golden Circle? And once you have figured out your why, take some time, and dream about a goal for 2015. Think about what you want to happen this year. Write it down. Tweet it out. Post it on Facebook. Make it public somehow so your networks can help make this dream a reality. Nothing like group accountability.

But before I get to the notes, I want to announce some fantastic news, and that is we have a new staff member to help me work with NUFP. Although I’ll be the main contact overall with the program, if you have specific questions at any point, please feel free to reach out to Yolanda Barnes at [email protected]. Yolanda is a NUFP alum, and I’m tres excited to have her in the office! Anyway, it is time for

THE NOTES...

1. Top 10 Ways to Start NUFP

As I mentioned above, Yolanda is an alum of the program. With more than 140 NUFP fellows just joining the cohort in December, we wanted to make sure there was a checklist to make the most of NUFP in 2015. Even for those not new to the program, these ten tips will help you make the most of NUFP.

2. NUFP Summer Internships: Due January 12, 2015

There have been some recent additions, and will be a few more additions even until Sunday night. Even if you have ranked your preferences, make sure to check out the internship site. Log in with your NASPA Membership information, and complete the application by today, January 12, 2015. Submitting the application is pressing save!

With regards to your preferences, please note, you may interview with more than five institutions, and just because you preference a host site does not guarantee an interview. More specifics regarding the process will be sent once everyone has applied. You can also apply for both the Summer Internships and DLI, even if you are graduating this May. You also can apply for any opportunity, even those not in your region.

3. Capstone On-Campus Management Scholarship: Due Friday, January 16

To support the 1st time Undergraduate Student Conference attendance of NUFP Fellows, NASPA and Capstone On-Campus Management have created the Capstone On-Campus NASPA Undergraduate Student Conference Scholarship.
