Leading nationally with the Four "I"s

October 20, 2016

It is time once again for us to solicit nominations for the ALSC KC Chair-elect.  The position of the ALSC KC Chair can be summarized as an amazing opportunity to lead with integrity, innovation, inclusion and inquiry. The NASPA 2017 conference framework is also a perfect platform for our next ALSC KC leader.

The Chair-elect begins service in 2017 as a shadow to our fearless leader James Stewart of DePaul University. Mr. Stewart and the chair-elect will begin their collaborative relationship at the NASPA conference in San Antonio TX., now you really have a reason to go. http://conference2017.naspa.org/

For the following year the chair-elect and Mr. Stewart will hold together our band of advocates for nontraditional students whose arms reach from Oshawa, Ontario to the Aloha State. The chair-elect attends the monthly KC virtual meeting and supports the incumbent chair with all NASPA duties including developing the KC as an organization that has integrity and supports innovation, inclusion and inquiry. For more detailed information about the duties of KC Chair-elect, read http://apps.naspa.org/files/KC-Chair-Position-Description.pdf

The KC requires a leader who has some regional or national visibility in the knowledge community. That means someone who is currently or at some point been active in the group, or has published or presented nationally, their research or conducted seminars to support student development of nontraditional students and especially students with children.

Seasoned and ready to serve, the chair-elect becomes officially The Chair in March of 2018 serving for the following two years with their own chair-elect to mentor in 2019, and handing over the mantle in 2020. Yes there will be rich rewards for leading a NASPA national organization of professionals! So much so that we want to make sure we have the best leader possible. Nominations (easiest to nominate yourself) can be submitted by emailing the following items to Martha Harper and the committee for ALSC KC chair search at [email protected]
