Welcome from the African American Knowledge Community

Black Diaspora
July 6, 2015

Dear Fellows,

On behalf of the NASPA African American Knowledge Community, congratulations on your admittance to the NUFP program! We are so excited that you have taken an interest in student affairs and NUFP is an amazing opportunity to learn more about this amazing field! My name is Annalise Setorie and I currently serve as the NUFP Liaison for the African American Knowledge Community (AAKC).

As a NUFP Alum, I’d like to encourage you to take advantage of every opportunity that this wonderful organization affords you. During my time as a Fellow (2009- 2011), I was fortunate to have amazing mentorship from campus professionals, partake in a summer internship on a different campus, participate in the 2010 Summer Leadership Institute, and attend various NASPA conferences. These opportunities have helped develop me into the professional that I am today. In fact, after my NUFP internship at the University of Arkansas, I decided to attend for graduate school. This is just one example of how the NUFP program has enhanced my career.

A network of Black professionals, the AAKC understands how important it is to support future professionals of color, as well as professionals interested in African- American trends and issues within higher education. We would like to serve as a resource to both you and your mentor, throughout your professional journey. Please reach out to us at any time for support! We are thrilled to begin building a relationship with you, as you begin to navigate everything this program has to offer!

Congratulations again, and welcome to an amazing network of Student Affairs Professionals! I look forward to seeing all the amazing things you do as a NASPA Undergraduate Fellow!

Best,

Annalise Setorie
