The NASPA International Symposium facilitates the advancement of a global discussion and worldwide understanding of student affairs as a field, and, in many countries, a profession. At the Symposium, leadership will be "ignited" as participants cross historic national and cultural boundaries to exchange ideas, and new networks and connections may emerge that "influence change" in participants' work.
Themes will include the emergence of student affairs in institutions around the globe, the integration of global themes in student affairs work, and the development of global competencies in students. Themese include:
Development of innovative programs and services that purposefully promote students to develop global leadership competencies and/or promote students to impact global change.
Innovative strategies for student affairs practitioners to include the theme of global change in programs.
Identification of practices that sustain institutional cultures to motivate, challenge, and support global leadership and change.
Training for future student affairs practitioners relating to leadership and global change.
