Enough is Enough :: Campuses : Planning Your Events
Planning Your Events
- Determine the Dates for Your Event(s)
For the greatest national impact, we are encouraging campuses across the country to hold Enough is Enough Week activitiesApril 2-6, 2012. If you are unable to participate at that time, please choose alternate dates, as working to stem societal violence is timeless!
- Promote Your Events
Use the Key Messages and suggestions that follow to promote your events to the campus and larger community, as appropriate.
- Determine the Format for Your Events
We have provided a variety of suggestions for consideration when planning your Enough is Enough Week; please feel free to select those most appropriate for your particular campus, and modify as appropriate…or come up with your own ideas, drawing upon your campus' unique climate.
- Involve All Segments of the Campus and Community
By involving the broad diversity of your campus community in planning and carrying out Enough is Enough activities, you can draw on a whole range of skills and get a broader population invested in the success of the program. Tap existing leaders, but also look for new leaders to emerge and work to intentionally develop this new group. Once the format of your events is determined, also look to those in the larger community -- such as first responders, social workers, secondary school personnel, and others -- to involve.
- Build on Your Enough is Enough Week
Don't let this week be a one-time event. Build on the successes of the week and continue the discussions throughout the school year. Take advantage of other "hooks" to tie follow-up activities to, such as "National Give Life Month," "Global Youth Service Days," or "National Campus Safety Awareness Month." Continue to build ties with the community and broaden the reach of your anti-violence efforts.
- Follow Up
- Debrief -- Sit down with those involved in the planning and execution of Enough is Enough activities to find out what went well and what could be improved upon for next time.
