Foundation Chair Cheryl (Cherry) Callahan
Dr. Cheryl (Cherry) M. Callahan serves as Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) which she has served for the past thirty years in various positions. She is responsible for a comprehensive Division of Student Affairs that includes Housing and Residence Life, Student Health Services, Counseling and Testing, Career Services, Disability Services, Campus Activities and Programs, Student Union, Dean of Students, Student Affairs Assessment, Campus Recreation, and various other support programs and services. She is a member of the President's Executive Staff and the Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor's Deans Council. She also serves as adjunct faculty in three University academic departments.
Cherry received two degrees from UNCG – a BS in Sociology and a PhD in Child Development and Family Relations. She also has a MA in Counseling from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has attended numerous professional leadership and management development institutes and workshops.
Beyond UNCG, Cherry served as Counselor and Director of Orientation at Delaware State University and as an elementary counselor in Guilford County Schools. She has been very active in NASPA and held numerous roles, including the NASPA Presidency, and has a particular passion for mentoring young professionals to insure a strong future for the student affairs profession. She is very active in her community having served on numerous boards and her current passion is service as a disaster/emergency response volunteer with the American Red Cross.
