Consider why you chose a career in higher education and in student affairs, in particular. Chances are it was because you know that college encompasses far more than the classroom experience and requires knowledgeable and caring professionals who can:
provide services to promote the well being of students;
foster the educational, psychological, social, spiritual and physical development of students;
advocate for students;
encourage a strong sense of community and heightened consciousness;
nurture an appreciation for diversity, multiculturalism and inclusiveness;
enhance an understanding of the larger global community.
Growing Our Endowment Is Imperative
Bolstering our endowment will enable naspa to implement strategic initiatives for our profession. A permanent stream of funds allows us to invest in issues and opportunities that will emerge because of the ever-changing higher education landscape. The goal of the Campaign for NASPA is to raise $1 million for the NASPA Foundation directed to the future of the profession. The new funds raised will be added to the foundation's existing $500,000 endowment to fund three areas of emphasis:
developing useful research directed at addressing the vexing issues that affect the profession and students;
enhancing professional development to span and link the continuum of experiences for both new as well as mid-level and senior-level professionals;
taking transformative action that keeps student affairs at the forefront of campus leadership.
The Campaign for NASPA
That mighty oak began as an acorn. During the course of the Campaign for NASPA, with a goal of $1 million, we will be branching out to reach all members, from those who have joined the profession recently to those who are now retired from senior leadership positions.
