Directors of Wellness and/or Health Promotion come into this work of reducing risk and enhancing wellness for the population from different disciplines.  Some have a background in public health, while others  studied  student development, student affairs administration, or the social sciences.  No matter the specifics of one's education, the job responsibilities and expectations are still the same.  The following pieces of literature, compiled by the California Campus Wellness and Health Promotion Directors’ Meeting attendees in the spring of 2011, are pieces of an essential foundation for WHP Directors, and should be considered a first step to functioning as a professional in wellness and health promotion. Please look for the corresponding article in the upcoming Spring 2012 version of the NASPA Knowledge Community Publication.
