NPGS News & Updates

Thanks to those who came to the Mixer and Business Meeting at the 2010 NASPA Conference in Chicago!  We were excited to see how many people were ready to get involved and be an active part of our community!

Here are some of the topics we discussed at the meeting and some initiatives we will be moving forward with in the near future:

  • More connection – NPGS KC serving as a liaison to Senior Student Affairs Officers (SSAOs)

  • Career development – resources developing supervision

  • First NASPA conference attendees and first year grad students – increase level of communication with these groups

  • Discussion groups and ideas generators - ways to communicate about common NPGS issues and situations

  • Opportunities for further learning after graduate school - development opportunities for New Professionals

  • Sharing ideas and resource from SSAOs (what's on your shelf or words of wisdom)

  • Serving the doctoral student population and being a resource for this specific group of people

  • Generational differences in the work place – putting ideas out there – feeling uneasy or intimidated

  • Making sure the NPGS voice is HEARD – with a potential unification with ACPA
