Consider getting more involved in the Parent and Family Relations KC by joining the Leadership Team!
Leadership Team Positions

To be considered for a Leadership Team position, you must be a NASPA KC member and be willing to devote time towards the betterment of the KC.

If you are interested in being considered for future leadership opportunities, please contact Sheri King or Ken Gassoit.

In addition to specific position responsibilities listed below, all leadership team members are expected to:

  • Communicate with national KC co-chairs on a regular basis
  • Actively recruit new NASPA KC members through e-mail and at conferences
  • Determine hot topics and trends to share with co-chairs and KC members
  • Respond and contribute to blog topics on a monthly basis
  • Attend the national NASPA conference in the spring and participate in KC-related activities
  • Engage in or encourage new research in the field of parent and family relations
  • Share ideas for improving KC services and resources
  • Encourage members to submit KC-related program proposals to regional and national conferences
  • Identify members for future regional and national leadership positions in KC
  • Review programs for consideration as KC sponsored programs at the NASPA conference

Specific leadership team positions include:

Literature Review & Pre-conference Institute (2 positions)

  • Coordinate submission of annual pre-conference program submission
  • Identify topics, coordinate presenters, and prepare logistics for annual pre-conference institute
  • Identify current and existing literature, articles, and research related to the KC
  • Collaborate with technology coordinator to post bibliography and website links to KC website

  Communications & Marketing Chair

  • Take minutes at annual NASPA conference KC meeting and prepare for dissemination through KC website
  • Develop goals and objectives, establish schedule, solicit articles, and publish KC newsletter in collaboration with co-chairs
  • Create marketing materials to advertise KC to NASPA membership
  • Research promotional items to advertise KC at NASPA conference and at regional meetings

  Technology Coordinator

  • Conceptualize and design additions to the KC website
  • Make updates to existing sections of the KC website as needed
  • Collaborate with Communications & Marketing Chair to post meeting minutes & newsletter on KC website
  • Identify new opportunities to utilize technology to expand knowledge dissemination

  Member Engagement & Blog Moderator (2 positions)

  • Lead KC efforts to identify and recruit new members, including those to present new programs, review proposals, etc
  • Lead the sponsored program review process for the annual conference
  • Create regular updates to KC membership for dissemination from co-chairs
  • In collaboration with Communications & Marketing Chair, develop annual communication and engagement plan for KC
  • Determine hot topics and trends related to KC and post to KC blog monthly
  • Send notice to KC membership to inform members of recent posting(s)

  Conference Activities & KC Gala Coordinator

  • Manage all KC activities at annual conference, including KC gala, business meeting, and reception
  • Collaborate with Communications & Marketing Chair to distribute materials to advertise KC at annual conference
  • Work with NASPA headquarters on ancillary meeting requests, catering orders, and other conference logistics
  • Coordinate KC representation at KC Gala during annual conference, including shift scheduling, displays, and promotional handouts
