Scholarship Review Team
The WISA Knowledge Community has recently developed a Scholarship Review Team that will review drafts of scholarship such as manuscripts that will be submitted for publications, presentation proposals for conferences, plans for conducting research, and other works of scholarship. While the Scholarship Review Team cannot guarantee that any piece reviewed will be accepted upon submission, the Scholarship Review Team can provide critical feedback in a timely manner. It is the Scholarship Review Team’s hope to encourage all members of the WISA community to engage in scholarly activities through this program. For example, this service could be useful to professionals or graduate students who have never submitted a presentation proposal to a conference but also could be worthwhile to a seasoned professional that needs someone outside of their immediate network to review their manuscript. In a nutshell, the review team can provide a fresh perspective on scholarship.
When you have a piece of scholarship that you would like reviewed, please e-mail it to wisascholarshipreviewteam [at] gmail [dot] com with all names and affiliations removed. You will receive an e-mail notifying you that your piece of scholarship was received. Once it has been received, it will be reviewed by 2 to 3 reviewers within 2 weeks and, you will receive feedback within a structured template with high quality comments. After reviewing the comments and making revisions, your piece can be reviewed once more by the same team members if you so choose. Submitted items should be for publications, conferences, or original research. Current graduate students should not submit assignments for courses, capstone projects, or dissertations of any kind.
Our hope is that this review process will allow graduate students and professionals to improve their research and writing skills to become more successful scholars. While it is the aim of the Research and Scholarship committee to increase research concerning women in student affairs, the review team will review any piece submitted that is related to student affairs or higher education.
