What is Student Affairs?  What is a Student Affairs Professional?

Student Affairs are those services, programs, and offices that exist on campus to support the academic, developmental, and experiential success of students.  They include services like housing & residence life, health services, financial aid, emotional & career counseling, and student activities, among others.

A Student Affairs Professional is someone who works (and sometimes lives) within the campus community to improve the quality of campus life for students, to develop programs to enhance student learning, and to support and advocate for student needs.

Why should you join NASPA?

If you are a student who may be considering a career in Student Affairs, joining NASPA will provide you with many great opportunities including the opportunity to:

    • Network with other undergraduate students who are considering careers in Student Affairs
    • Meet student affairs professionals from across the country and around the world
    • Attend workshops for personal and professional development at regional and national conferences
    • Identify and learn more about what areas of student affairs interest you
    • Gain valuable volunteer experience
    • Participate in a career services event at a professional development conference
    • Learn more about starting a student affairs group on your campus
    • Participate in one or more of NASPA's 24 Knowledge Communities
