  • Contemporary issues concerning diversity and multiculturalism on college campuses
  • Issues of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, class, religion, and ability
  • Organizational and institutional change discourse
  • Opportunities and creative solutions for the development and sustenance of a diverse campus community
  • New strategic priorities within departments, divisions, and institutions
  1. To Create Vocational Opportunities for Underrepresented Students   (link this section to the NUFP page)
The NASPA Undergraduate Fellows Program (NUFP), formally known as the Minority Undergraduate Fellows Program (MUFP), was initiated in 1989–1990 to emphasize the lack of persons of ethnic minority in the student affairs profession.
This program has continued to grow and has expanded to include persons of disabilities and different sexual orientation. Members receive:
  • A year-long mentorship between a fellow and a student affairs professional
  • Opportunities to attend NASPA conferences and programs
  • Invitations to apply for paid summer internships and leadership development opportunities
  1. To Educate Staff and Faculty on Student Mental Health Issues  (link this section to the Mental Health and Alcohol Conferences)
Colleges and universities across the country have seen an increasing number of students with serious psychological problems. The NASPA Mental Health Conference provides a forum for:
  • Examining the complexity and severity of mental health problems, which endanger students' lives and contribute to academic failure
  • Exploring an overall framework for mental health promotion and successful strategies individual campuses have implemented
  • Understanding of substance abuse and other risky behaviors, which often correlate with depression and mental health conditions
