Do I have to be a NASPA member to submit/win?

Yes. The individual person submitting the program must be a NASPA member.

How many entries can I submit?

You can enter different programs into one category. Please note you cannot enter the same program in multiple categories. Entries do not need to be received at the same time and each category and entry is judged individually. Please ensure the program you are submitting is directly relevant to the respective submission category.

When/How do I submit an entry?

Grand Medal recipients:

  • The Gold Award winner in each category will be further considered for the highest awards for program excellence -- the NASPA Grand Gold Medal, the NASPA Grand Silver Medal and the NASPA Grand Bronze Medal. The winners of these three grand awards will be recognized during the NASPA Annual Awards Luncheon on Tuesday, March 13, 2012.

Who will judge the submissions?

The Excellence Awards Director will solicit input from all Region VPs to identify Award Category Coordinators (ACCs) who are student affairs professionals with direct experience in the category to lead the judging. Efforts will be made to have at least one of the ACCs selected from each NASPA region. Each ACC will identify three to five judges to evaluate all of the submissions in the category and designate the Gold, Silver and Bronze Award winners in each category. The gold category winners will be further judged by the Director of Excellence Awards and a committee of ACCs to determine the Gold Medal, Silver Medal, and Bronze Medal Grand Awardees.

Is judging anonymous?

The identities of the judges and the categories and programs they review will remain anonymous to the entrants and the NASPA membership.

By what criteria will my submission be judged?

Entries in each category will be judged based upon criteria related to program impact and success. Please see Criteria for Excellence Awards Judging for complete information.

Will I be notified whether or not my registration and/or entry materials were received?

Each entry registered will be confirmed electronically.

When/How will we find out if we have won?

NASPA will contact all submissions selected for recognition in January 2012. However, recipients will be formally announced at the 2012 NASPA Annual Conference from March 10-14, 2012 in Phoenix, Arizona.

Do we receive individual critiques of our entered work?

Due to the number of entries received, we cannot offer individual critiques of entries.

Can I reenter programs and materials?

You can reenter programs and materials that have not yet received any recognition. If your program or initiative previously received NASPA Excellence Awards recognition, at any level, it cannot be reentered.
