NASPA Excellence Awards

Submitting a NASPA Excellence Awards Entry (Deadline: November 1, 2008)

To enter a program, NASPA members should go to NASPA's home page and log on to NASPA Excellence Awards under Programs and Initiatives.

Follow the steps below to submit a NASPA Excellence Awards entry:

  1. Consider the most innovative and creative Student Affairs programs at your institution.
  2. Review the Categories for Excellence Awards entries and select one entry category for each program submitted.
  3. Submit a completed Excellence Awards Registration Form (electronic) for each entry. Each submission will receive an Excellence Awards Submission Form with a confirmation number and the mailing address for the Awards Category Coordinator (ACC) for the applicable awards category.
  4. Review the Criteria for Excellence Awards Judging and consider the best way to communicate how your program excels in these areas.
  5. Generate, collect and/or create the materials necessary to allow the Excellence Awards judges to thoroughly review the submission. (See Guidelines for Entry Preparation below.)
  6. Mail your completed submission with the Submission Form and confirmation number to the Awards Category Coordinator for that entry's category. Entries received after November 1 will not be accepted. Judging will be completed in December and winners will be notified in January.
  7. Make plans to attend the 2009 NASPA Annual Conference from March 7 - 11 to view the top programs recognized through the NASPA Excellence Awards.

Guidelines for Entry Preparation

In general, the entry materials should be thorough enough to represent the quality of the program or service but clear and concise enough to be readily judged. In general, the materials will include:

  • Title page with award category noted
  • An executive summary (2 pages or less)
  • A program description including specific articulation of how the criteria are or are not met (5 pages)
  • Charts, graphs and appendices (Limit to materials absolutely necessary to judge the quality of the program or service)
