Institute Description
The Professional Competency Areas for Student Affairs Practitioners approved by NASPA specify that knowledge and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion are an expectation of all practitioners regardless of their area of specialization or positional role within the field. The NASPA Multicultural Institute is intentionally designed for student affairs practitioners and administrators to further develop their own knowledge and skills as effective multicultural educators.
The NASPA Multicultural Institute will provide an interactive forum combining thought-provoking keynote speakers, challenging educational sessions, and opportunities for resource and idea sharing between multicultural educators across the academy including academic affairs. Institute participants will engage in a multitude of topics related to multiculturalism, intercultural competency, cross-culturalism and social justice by focusing on race and ethnicity; sexual orientation; sex, gender, and gender identity; ability, nationality; religion and spirituality; and socioeconomic class.
