NASPA New Professionals Online Series

Guide to Staff Supervision & Management in Student Affairs

This series is NASPA's response to two continued demands from the student affairs professional community: the need for a comprehensive staff management training program and a means to demonstrate the acquisition of knowledge regarding personnel management that employers seek when hiring.  In contrast to traditional staff management professional development in our field which usually provides only a brief overview of the entire topic, the NASPA Guide to Staff Supervision and Management in Student Affairs is comprehensive in its approach by utilizing multiple training models each focused on a particular skill set necessary to be a successful supervisor.  These programs are perfect for new professionals who are looking to gain the skills necessary for a supervisory position or the seasoned practitioner seeking to improve their managerial effectiveness.

Previous modules in this series include:

  • Common Mistakes Staff Managers Make in Student Affairs
  • Managing Student Staffs
  • Improving Supervisory Effectiveness through Human and Fiscal Management Strategies that Work
  • Navigating the Shift: Transitioning to New Roles and New Institutions
  • Crisis Management in Student Affairs
  • It's OK to Leave at 5 O'Clock: What Every New Professional Should Consider
