OUT for Work's Hot Shots 2012

OUT for Work is proud to announce the release of a new career resource for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) college students transitioning from academia to the workplace: HOT Shots 2012. The preview edition is available at: http://www.outforwork.org/pdf/store/2011/HOTShots2012-Preview-Edition.pdf

The full version is a 24-page resource that covers the following topics:

  • Preparation for the workplace
  • Job search
  • Resume
  • Interview
  • Coming out in the workplace
  • The affects of being out and open in the workplace
  • Advice for students

In addition, last year OUT for Work created a survey that asked young LGBTQ professionals to provide commentary on their transition from academia to the workplace; preparation for the workplace, job search, resume, interview, and coming out at work. Participants were also asked to reflect on how they thought being out and open in the workplace has affected their career and what advice they would provide students just beginning the process. Individuals were solicited across job titles and industries. From the numerous respondents, 16 individuals were selected-including Nathan Victoria, NASPA's assistant director of educational programs & social media. Congratulations, Nathan!

There will be a live webinar on this publication in January 2012. For more information, visit http://outforwork.org.
