Golden Key and NASPA Partner to Provide $14,000 in Scholarships
Golden Key International Honour Society is the world's premier all-academic honor society and the newest NASPA Strategic Partner. Through this unique partnership, Golden Key will provide more than $14,000 in scholarships to NASPA student members in support of the New Professionals and Graduate Student Knowledge Community at the Annual Conference and several regional conferences. As the only all-academic international honor society, Golden Key will continue to support the International Knowledge Community and be recognized as a Gold Level Sponsor at the Annual Conference.
Golden Key has historically supported NASPA, whose members often serve as Golden Key advisors at their university. The society's increased commitment highlights the importance of NASPA members' role in the development of the whole student.
"We continually find great value in those in the student affairs profession and have found alignment with the Golden Key values among those who excel in this field," said Golden Key Chief Executive Officer John Mitchell.
Twelve scholarships in the amount of $825.00 each will be offered to eight undergraduate students and four graduate students who are first-time attendees to the NASPA Annual Conference. Scholarship funds must be used toward pre-conference workshop and conference registration fees, travel to and from the conference, up to five nights lodging in a double occupancy room, and meals. All applicants must be members of NASPA or Golden Key and have at least a 3.5 GPA at time of application (a 3.7 is preferred). All applications must be received by January 1, 2010.
Golden Key was founded in 1977 in Atlanta, Georgia. The global nonprofit organization provides academic recognition to students in the top 15 percent of their class, and connects them with leadership opportunities, community service, career networking and scholarships (more than $500,000 awarded annually). With nearly 2 million members, the society has a presence at more than 375 universities in Australia, Canada, Malaysia, New Zealand, South Africa, the United Arab Emirates and the United States. Membership into the society is by invitation only to students in all fields of study. For more information about Golden Key, visit http://www.goldenkey.org/.
