NASPA’S Center for Women Introduces New Award
Ruth Strang Research Award
The Ruth Strang Research Award is sponsored by the NASPA Center for Scholarship, Research, and Professional Development for Women (Center for Women) to recognize individuals for outstanding contributions to the body of literature concerning women in higher education. This award encourages high-quality research related to women in higher education and seeks to promote research by, for, and about women. Submissions may be unpublished articles, academic papers, or portfolios that show strong scholarship and address topics relevant to the education of women and their personal and professional development.
The Center for Women named this award in honor of Dr. Ruth Strang (1895-1971), author, educator, and recipient of the 1977 NASPA Award for Outstanding Contributions to the Literature of Higher Education, which she received posthumously for her commitment to the advancement of women in higher education and Student Affairs. The recipient will receive a $500 cash award, a plaque presented at the Center for Women Reception at the NASPA National Conference, and consideration for publication in the NASPA Journal About Women in Higher Education. To submit a manuscript, NASPA members should review and download the application form for more information. All submissions must be received by November 30, 2009.
