Region II Seeks Regional KC Representatives

Region II needs you! Have you been considering getting more involved in NASPA? Are you looking for ways to engage in the profession? NASPA's Knowledge Communities are the gateway to the profession and present wonderful opportunities for members to get involved in the association and develop their professional skill sets.  Region II is currently looking for Regional Knowledge Community Representatives for the following Knowledge Communities:

  • Disability Concerns
  • Indigenous Peoples

The Regional KC Representatives work to serve the collective efforts of their Knowledge Community within Region II. The Regional KC Representatives will work most closely with the Regional Coordinator and the KC National Chair who will provide support and guidance in planning programs and other activities to promote the KC at the regional level. NASPA KNOWLEDGE COMMUNITY
REGIONAL REPRESENTATIVE
JOB DESCRIPTION


The Regional KC Representatives work to serve the collective efforts of their Knowledge Community within a particular region. The Regional KC Representatives will work most closely with the Regional Coordinator and the KC National Chair who will provide support and guidance in planning programs and other activities to promote the KC at the regional level.  The Regional Vice President (RVP) appoints all Regional KC Representatives. The National KC Chair should provide individual recommendations to RVPs in each particular region, along with the Regional Coordinator, to inform these appointments. Final decisions rest with the RVP. The Regional KC Representatives may or may not sit on the RVP Board. This is at the discretion of the RVP.

Responsibilities:

1. Execute programs, activities and events for members in the region regarding the KC mission and related topics of interest. The National Chair will communicate with KC Representatives about events and programs that are being planned on the national level, particularly at the NASPA Annual Conference.

2. The Regional Representative will provide support in planning KC related events and activities to share information about the KC to the region. These events may include: Drive In conferences, Bookmarks or other promotional materials, Web site updates, Newsletters  electronic, Listservs, Blogs, Telephone conference information sessions, Programs at Institutes, annual, and regional conferences, Roundtable sessions at meetings, Research proposals/projects, List of published or soon to be published articles, Collaborating with other KCs on projects, Statewide functions, Program request and review for conferences, Be creative!

3. Recruit and build a diverse leadership team that generates and disseminates knowledge to the membership.

4. Work with the Regional Coordinator and RVP to develop ways to increase membership within the KC.

5. Work with the National KC Chairs to provide feedback on regional activities and assist in moving the National KC agenda forward.

6. Submit reports three times a year to the Regional Coordinator, RVP and National KC Chair for the purpose of informing the NASPA Board of Directors about activities, accomplishments, and recognitions of the KC.

7. In consultation with the Regional Coordinator, plan program sessions and other activities for the KC at the regional conference.

8. Depending on the region, the KC Representative may sit on the Regional Advisory Board and required to attend their meetings.

9. Attend the regional conference and Annual Conference and any other formal meetings or trainings that support the future development of the KCs.
