A Message from Laura A. Wankel, Region II VP

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

I am so very pleased to have been elected to serve as the NASPA Region II Vice President. I truly perceive this role as a special privilege and will do all that I can to represent you and the Region.

NASPA serves as the leading voice for student affairs administration, policy and practice. With over 11,000 members from 1,400 members and 29 countries, our presence and impact is significant. As a membership driven organization, our vitality is drawn from the active engagement of all members.

Active participation in NASPA at both the regional and national level offers rich opportunities for professional development and networking throughout one's career. It is for these reasons that your involvement is urged and necessary. Opportunities to participate abound through the many workshops, institutes, conferences and knowledge communities that are available for professionals at all levels of experience. Additionally, the friendships and support of colleagues is an especially valuable benefit that can span years. With this in mind, I look forward to your engagement as we shape our agenda to strengthen the professional development and networking available to us all in Region II.

There are many projects underway that are important to the profession. Discussion and documents on the consolidation, the future of student affairs and the development of professional standards can all have a profound impact on the nature of our profession. I am planning to use our website, and potentially other means, to provide information and opportunities for you to participate in the dialogue about these and other important issues that may emerge.

Please feel free to be in touch with me, or any member of the Advisory Board, to share your interests or to volunteer your talents. I very much look forward to working with you, and look forward to meeting you at NASPA Events!

Collegially,

Laura A. Wankel, Ed.D.
