Welcome to Region III - florida

naspa region 3 florida logo with green diamondNASPA is committed to student affairs professionals at all levels and we are here to help you get connected to the people, programs and resources available right here in our home state.

On this website you will find our quarterly state newsletter, information concerning our annual fall state drive-in conference, the mentor program, and professional contacts that are here to serve you and your institution. Keep an eye on this space as we develop new ways to support one another through our professional association. We are open to new ideas and we want to hear from you. Please let us know how NASPA-FL can serve you.

I am truly honored to be your state director and I urge you to become actively involved in NASPA, our region, and our state. If you have any questions or concerns on how to get involved please feel free to contact me or any other members on the state board so we can assist you.

Florida NASPA GOALS FOR 2010 - 2012

  Membership Enhancements
  • Increase community college membership by 25% and undergraduate memberships by 25% through the NASPA Undergraduate Fellows Program (NUFP)
  • Hold the top spot in Region III for number of members in a state
  • Continue to host a first-rate state drive-in conference
  • Offer regional state symposiums in order create additional low cost professional development opportunities
  • Send welcome letters to new and renewing members with invitation to get involved at state level

Technology and Social Networks
  • Utilize the NASPA-FL Facebook site to provide up-to-date information, job postings, and conference information to members in the state
  • Implement social network discussion boards for Knowledge Community Chairs
  • Implement a NASPA-FL group in the My Profile section of the NASPA.org website
  • Provide online registration and proposal submissions for state conference and symposiums

 Awards/Scholarships
  • Enhance recognizing the NASPA-FL members through the Graduate Student of the Year, New Professional of the Year, Mid-level Manager of the Year, and Travel Award at the annual state Drive-in Conference
  • Create complementary membership scholarships for community colleges and HBCU's in the state
  • Provide book scholarships and/or conference scholarships for the winners of the Annual State Case Study Competition 
     
Knowledge Communities
  • Fill open positions and with full-time professionals for each group and develop a network of professionals and graduate students in each area of interest.
  • Create a training session for all KC's during the drive-in conference
  • Implement quarterly conference calls to enhance communication within the Knowledge Community Chairs
  • Monthly updates on the social networks and NASPA-FL website  
  • E-mail updates as needed to membership during academic year

Board
  • Provide monthly up-to-date information concerning national, regional, and state updates through various means of communication
  • Assure that the NASPA-FL board has representation throughout the state
  • Provide opportunities for NASPA-FL members to get published in the quarterly newsletter
  • Be responsive to members concerns and create a welcoming and caring environment
