"(Man)ifesting Change, Taking Root" Drive-In Conference will provide a venue for discussion, research, and the distribution of information regarding men’s gender identity development within the context of college campuses. Student Affairs practitioners are encouraged to share their knowledge on strategies and best practices when working with college men, ways to help men matriculate through their college experience, collaborative approaches to men development, student retention and the learning environment created for men in higher education. We ask that you share your expertise and experiences to address the key themes for this conference.
The “(Man)ifesting Change, Taking Root” calls upon Student Affairs and Higher Education professionals to grow in knowledge and dedication to fostering leadership and support for men and transgender men on our campuses—changing the status quo, challenging patriarchy, making room in “man” for transgender men, butch masculinities, and In “(Man)ifesting Change, Taking Root,” there is both an upward growth toward and a downward growth deep into the soil of our pasts, honoring our histories, struggles, and historical legacies. “(Man)ifesting Change, Taking Root” is, in this way, an articulation of growth that isn’t devoted wholly to the imagination of a future, but a growth in our rootedness to one another, to our struggle(s), and to the histories that got us here.
