The New Professionals Institute (NPI) is the preeminent professional development opportunity for new student affairs professionals in NASPA. NPI is a two-day, interactive training that focuses on sharing, engagement, making connections, and reflecting on a variety of topics facing new professionals in the field. This unique opportunity allows new professionals to draw on their first years of experience to improve their effectiveness and to learn from others - Foundations for Success!


Who

The Institute is open to new full-time student affairs professionals who report to mid-level or senior student affairs officers and have been professional staff less than five years. See this year's participants here!

What

The format of the Institute will include presentations, small group discussion and application of concepts, opportunities to make connections with colleagues, and personal reflection time. See Tentative Agenda here.

Where

This year's NPI will be hosted at the Eldorado Hotel in Santa Fe, New Mexico in conjunction with the Region IV-West Conference.

When

The 2009 NPI will be held November 1 - 3. Participants are encouraged to attend the Region IV-West Conference November 3- 5. Those who do will receive a discount on the Regional Conference registration fee and can attend for just $160.

Cost

$450 per person: Rate includes registration, meals/snacks, Institute materials, and two nights hotel stay. NPI co-chairs will be responsible for participant room assignments for the Institute.

Application

The application deadline has passed. Applicants will be notified regarding their participation by Friday, September 18.

Registration

All applicants will be notified regarding their participation via email by Friday, September 18, 2009. This notification will also include details regarding registration for NPI, the conference, or both. As a reminder, priority registration for the NASPA IV-West Regional Conference is October 2, 2009.
