Research Division Scholar-Practitioner Research Grant Proposal Application available now!
NASPA Region V enthusiastically invites proposals for the 2012 Research Division Scholar-Practitioner Research Grant. Region V makes available approximately $2,000 annually in research grants for Region V members. The maximum award for an individual or research team is $1,000 annually. Region V is interested in funding research efforts in student affairs that further a culture of research and evidence-based decision making in the region and are consistent with the mission of NASPA's Research Division:
NASPA Region V is seeking to support research that is:
(a) systematic in its approach to discover relationships between variables or to explain a particular phenomenon,
(b) grounded in theory, and
(c) generalizeable or has broad implications for practice so that it
contributes to the body of student affairs scholarship. Proposals that
involve the analysis of existing data are welcome, but should meet the
criteria above.
Timeline for the grant proposal application process is as follows:
- May 1, 2012: Proposals due
- June 2012: Committee review, awards made, communication with all applicants
- Fall 2012: Winners announced at regional conference
- By 2013 Regional Conference: Award recipients provide written summary of findings and details account of how the funds were expended to the NASPA Region V Advisory Board; award recipients present research and findings at the regional conference
Proposals will be evaluated on the following criteria:
- Overall quality of the research proposal and all required components;
- Degree to which the proposed research is grounded in theory;
- Degree to which the proposed research adds value to the broad body of scholarship in student affairs; and
- Feasibility of successfully completing the research project within the proposed time.
