The Southern California Executive Committee is the voice of NASPA Region VI and NASPA National from Southern California (San Diego to Santa Barbara). In addition, the Southern California Executive Committee organizes networking and professional development opportunities for Student Affairs professionals throughout the region.
The University of California Irvine would like to invite our NASPA colleges to a symposium on "Black Male Student Success in College on Thursday, May 17th from Noon-5 p.m. Dr. Shaun Harper (formerly of USC) will be sharing his recent research on the topic. The Panel on Institutional Responsibility features Dr. Frank Harris, Dr.Tyrone Howard, Dr. Darnell Cole and Dr. Amanuel Gebru. This is a free event open to the public. Everyone is welcome to attend so do promote on your campuses.
The Men & Masculinities Knowledge Community of NASPA and Cal Poly State University - San Luis Obispo are proud to sponsor a one-day drive-in conference for Faculty, Staff and Students entitled Gender Symposium: Connecting Religion, Race and Culture. This conference is primarily geared toward Faculty and Staff, but graduate students are particularly encouraged to attend. This conference will examine the intersectionalities that gender plays with religion, race and culture of our college students.
The conference morning Keynote Address will be given by Dr. Jason Laker, Professor of Counseling Education at San Jose State University.
