NetResults Responding to Anonymous Letters and Phone Calls During Membership Intake

The first installment of the January 2006 NetResults is available on NASPA's Web site. There's no formula for how student affairs administrators should respond to anonymous allegations of illegal activity within student organizations. In the feature article, "Responding to Anonymous Letters and Phone Calls During Membership Intake," Mark David, dean of students at Dillard University, tells us what his office did when it received anonymous tips about dubious activity at a Greek chapter. Also in this issue: Gillian Silver recaps what UNLV's Alumni Relations division did to revamp and re-energize student programs in, "Collaboration, tighter assessment enable UNLV Alumni Relations to Transform Student Programs."  More Info

International Higher Education Assessment & Retention Conference — Call For Programs

NASPA will present the International Higher Education Assessment & Retention Conference, June 16 - 19, 2006 in Phoenix, Ariz. In an era of declining resources and greater accountability, state and federal legislators, accrediting agencies, trustees, and finance divisions are increasingly scrutinizing higher education. The higher education community, both in the United States and abroad, must create a culture of assessment dedicated to continuously improving student learning. This year's Assessment and Retention Conference has as its theme "Everybody's Job: Assessment, Accountability, and Retention in the Learning College." The Call for Programs is now announced! Please visit the NASPA Web site to submit a program!  More Info

NEW! Communicable Disease Management and Prevention Blog

It's now time for winter break, and many students have left their college campuses for vacations or to be with their families and friends. While most students will remain healthy upon their return to school, some may have been exposed to infectious diseases which are uncommon in the United States. It's important to consider the potential for communicable disease outbreaks post-winter break, and to act prudently in order to preserve public safety.

Tell us what your school is doing to prepare for a potential communicable disease outbreak such as bird flu by posting to our blog, and read NASPA's tips on preparing for and managing a communicable disease outbreak on our Interact homepage.
