NASPA is pleased to announce the debut of the Journal About Women in Higher Education. In honor of the inaugural issue, all NASPA members are receiving a complimentary copy of the Journal. Check your mailbox in mid-February for your copy. Published annually in March, the Journal About Women in Higher Education is a blind peer-reviewed scholarly journal that aims to deepen understanding of the issues facing women faculty, students, and administrators in higher education. A launch event for the Journal will take place during the 2008 Annual Conference in Boston. Please join us at the NASPA Bookstore outside the Exhibit Hall on Monday, March 10, at 9:30 a.m. to celebrate the debut of this significant publication.

NASPA recognizes the importance of focusing on diversity as part of its mission. To that end, NASPA is providing a searchable database of diversity-related resources for student affairs personnel professional development, for campuswide initiatives, and for the student experience. More info

Mentor Appreciation Weeks for NUFP Mentors – Ending 2/8/08

NASPA wants to remind you that February 8, 2008 is the official end to the Mentor Appreciation Weeks for mentors of the NASPA Undergraduate Fellows Program (NUFP). The mission of NUFP is to increase the number of persons of ethnic-minority, persons with disabilities, and/or persons who identify as LGBT in student affairs and higher education. NUFP provides mentoring, internship opportunities, leadership training, and funding to attend national conferences to these undergraduate students, also known as "fellows." If you would like to start a NUFP program on your campus, please contact Nathan Victoria

The 2008 Silent Auction – Donate Today

The Silent Auction is the NASPA Foundation's largest fundraiser. The event occurs annually at the NASPA Annual Conference. We seek to significantly increase the amount we raise this year. In order to do this, we need your help. The deadline to send materials to the NASPA Foundation office is February 12, 2008.  More Info

International Assessment & Retention Conference – Submit a Program Today

Assessment Reconsidered: Improving Learning, Student Success, and Transparency is the theme for the International Assessment & Retention Conference, being held June 11–15, 2008 in Scottsdale, Arizona. The call for proposals is live. Proposals should be submitted by February 15, 2008 for consideration. Apply to be a NASPA Summer Graduate Intern – Deadline 2/29/08

The NASPA summer internship position will provide you with a valuable learning experience and a deeper understanding of the role a national association, how it functions, and what it offers its members. The selected intern will receive ongoing mentorship and be assigned to a NASPA staff member who will oversee their work, help identify project goals, and support professional development. More info

Imagining a More Civil Society: The University and the Jewish Community Summit 2008

Join visionaries and innovators from academia, philanthropy, journalism, and the Jewish world as we explore the role of the university and the Jewish community in imagining a more civil society. The Summit, held March 24–26 in Washington, D.C., is for individuals with a deep interest in the intersection of academia and the Jewish community. More info

House Votes On HEA Authorization

Today, (Thursday, February 7, 2007) on the floor of the United States House of Representatives, members of Congress are considering their version of the Higher Education Act Reauthorization bill. The bill will have a significant impact on the student affairs profession and is not scheduled to be revised until at least five years from now. NASPA will continue to provide critical updates on how this bill might impact the profession. More info
