More Info Dissertation of the Year Deadline This Friday! The application deadline for the Hardee Dissertation of the Year Award is this Friday, September 15, 2006. This award is designed to encourage high-quality research relevant to the field of college student services administration and the general field of student affairs, and to recognize outstanding dissertation research conducted by doctoral degree recipients presently in or intending to enter the student affairs profession. Applicants must have completed their dissertation and had their degree conferred between September 1, 2005 and August 31, 2006. More Info. Questions? Scott Academy's New SSAO Institute Are you a new senior student affairs officer (SSAO)? If so, don't miss this great opportunity. A few spaces are still open for the James E. Scott Academy's New SSAO Institute. This professional development opportunity will provide newly-appointed senior student affairs officers with training and development critical to their new roles. Collaborations for Improved Mental Health & Wellness on College & University Campuses will take place January 11–13, 2007, in Houston, Texas. The conference planning committee is seeking program proposals to add to the program for January. The deadline for programs is October 20, 2006. The program is co-sponsored by ACCA, AUCCCD and the Center for College Health & Safety. NASPA Student Affairs Law & Policy Conference: Register Today! A collaborative event among NASPA, Stetson College of Law and the Association of Student Judicial Affairs (ASJA), the NASPA Student Affairs Law & Policy Conference will be held December 3–5, 2006 in Las Vegas, Nev. By bringing together professionals from student affairs and law, this conference will: provide current legal information per case law; recommended practices from higher educational institutions; projected issues on the legal landscape; and the opportunity to discuss, dissect, and apply law and to bridge theory to practice. Mid-Level Student Affairs Professional Award Student affairs professionals with a minimum of five years experience are eligible for NASPA's newest award, the Mid-Level Student Affairs Professional Award. Recipients must be experienced in creating campus environments that promote student learning and personal development. 2006 Assessment Institute in Indianapolis
Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis will host the 2006 Assessment Institute in Indianapolis October 29–31, 2006. This Institute will focus exclusively on outcomes assessment in higher education and is designed to provide opportunities for: individuals and campus teams new to outcomes assessment to acquire foundation knowledge about the field; individuals who have worked as leaders in outcomes assessment to extend their knowledge and skills; and those interested in outcomes assessment at any level to establish networks that serve as sources of support and expertise beyond the dates of the institute.
