Shannon Ellis Responding to Students with Disabilities In response to the catastrophic effects of Hurricane Katrina, the Association on Higher Education and Disability (AHEAD), the professional organization of disability service professionals at colleges and universities in the US and abroad, has drawn together a team of experts to give our members guidance on meeting the needs of displaced postsecondary students with disabilities. We believe it is critical that students with disabilities affected by Hurricane Katrina receive a welcome at their new institutions and that they be afforded disability-related accommodations with as little stress as possible. Go to our website, www.ahead.org, for further information on this critical piece for continued education of students with disabilities displaced by the devastation. Membership
