More Info Careers in Student Affairs Month October is Careers in Student Affairs Month! To help you recruit potential future student affairs professionals on your campus, NASPA has prepared programmatic and promotional materials available at http://www.naspa.org/career/careersinsamonth.cfm. The materials include suggestions for activities, points of discussion about pursuing a career in the field, and a professionally designed promotional poster. Leadership e-Learning Course – Register by October 23 Professionals responsible for providing direction, supervision, and guidance to a leadership program will be interested in this course that offers a "nuts and bolts" approach to constructing a leadership program. The course runs October 30–November 10 and is scheduled to accommodate the needs of busy student affairs professionals. Register by October 23 on the NASPA Web site. Submit National Awards Nominations by November 1 The deadline is approaching to nominate phenomenal professionals for NASPA National Awards. Each year, NASPA members nominate those prominent student affairs and higher education leaders for their contributions. Award categories include Mid-Level Student Affairs Professional, Outstanding Contribution to Literature and Research, and The President's Award. For a comprehensive list of awards or to submit your nomination, visit the Annual Awards Web site. NASPA Excellence Awards Submissions All NASPA members are encouraged to enter recently developed and/or longstanding programs and initiatives, innovative services, and effective administration for consideration for NASPA Excellence Awards. Programs selected for national recognition in each of the nine categories will receive one of three award designations: Gold, Silver, or Bronze. The Gold Award winner in each category will be considered for the highest national awards for program excellence: the NASPA Gold Medal, the NASPA Silver Medal and the NASPA Bronze Medal. Submit your proposal online by November 1 at the NASPA Excellence Awards Web site. Nominations for President-Elect Do you have an outstanding mentor or excellent VPSA? Nominate her or him for NASPA president-elect! Nominees must be professional affiliates (voting delegates are included) or faculty affiliates at a member institution and must have a record of leadership in NASPA and dedication to the association. Your nomination is due to the NASPA office by November 1, 2006. Leadership Educators Institute – Early-Bird Registration The Leadership Educators Institute is developed for new and mid-level student affairs professionals. Program tracks include leadership development theory, leadership courses, leadership program assessment, and cohort leadership programs. This exciting professional development experience will take place at Arizona State University in Tempe, Ariz., December 7–9, 2006. Early-bird registration ends November 3.
