Veterans Knowledge Community Ally and Advocate Award
The purpose of Veterans Knowledge Community Ally and Advocate Award is to recognize the outstanding work individuals do with relation to supporting and / or advancing military-connected students. While the NASPA VKC Supra et Ultra award currently exists to recognize outstanding services and contributions from those who support our military-connected students, that award is restricted solely for individuals who are active members of NASPA (The Supra et Ultra award is the VKC’s only current award). The Veterans Knowledge Community (VKC) acknowledges that great work happens across many lines of work and organizations, not all of which would be appropriate for an individual to be an active NASPA member. The VKC want to highlight those who work in higher education, in addition to those whose work impacts higher education.
Selection Criteria: The NASPA Veterans Knowledge Community Ally and Advocate Award is reserved for an individual who has gone above and beyond in their service to military-connect students, the military community throughout the country, and for whom the Award Selection Committee feel additional accolades are in order to recognize this individual’s passion and dedication. The award’s conferral on an individual relies on review and approval by the Award Selection Committee of the Veterans Knowledge Community, and is a special honor which may be bestowed upon a deserving individual. This award will be presented every year at the NASPA Symposium on Military-Connected Students. **Please note: if no nominees are put forward, it is at the discretion of the Award Selection Committee to choose an awardee based on the award criteria.
