NASPA's SERVE Academy hits the ground running

October 6, 2016 Lori White DePauw University

This past weekend, I returned from the orientation weekend for the 15 members of the inaugural Supporting, Expanding, and Recruiting Volunteer Excellence (SERVE) academy cohort. These individuals hail from a broad spectrum of institutions, bring a diverse leadership perspective, and have engaged with NASPA in a variety of ways throughout their careers in higher education.

These 15 dynamic individuals collectively applied for SERVE because of their interest in learning more about NASPA as an organization, and their commitment to volunteering their "time, talents and treasures" toward the betterment of our association. As we gathered over this last weekend, one quote from a SERVE participant that stuck with me was “this program is not just about you and what you may individually contribute to NASPA; [SERVE] is about how we can all better serve an association that has given so much to each one of us personally and professionally."

You will be hearing more about SERVE, and from members of the SERVE cohort over the course of their appointment, as they also plan connect with NASPA members in a variety of ways to learn more from you about how to enhance your NASPA engagement experience. To see a list of the 2016-2018 SERVE Academy participants, please see this PDF document.

Stay tuned for more from this cohort as they carve out their places as the future leaders and shapers of our organization.
