Volunteers are the heart of NASPA - Ways to get involved

October 11, 2016 Deb Moriarty Franklin and Marshall College

Volunteers are at the heart of NASPA‘s work. As a result of the contributions of volunteers’ time, talent, and expertise, NASPA is able to provide the essential information and tools, vibrant community, and exceptional experiences for all NASPA members that we value so highly. Together, we accomplish incredible things and move the student affairs profession forward.

We are currently seeking dedicated members for several of our constituent groups and other ad hoc groups, including subcommittee membership for the 2018 NASPA Annual Conference Leadership Committee. These groups contribute to NASPA’s work in identifying and creating relevant content, as well as participating in the work of NASPA in partnership with staff. Being a volunteer helps NASPA accomplish Goal #1 of the strategic plan – to “Deliver dynamic, innovative, and timely professional development and volunteer engagement opportunities to build the leadership capacities and effectiveness of student affairs professionals”.

The skills, passion, and varied perspectives of our members help to build an energetic, inclusive, and innovative corps of volunteer leaders. To find an opportunity that interests you, please go to Volunteer Central. If you find an opportunity that interests you, click on the title and review the requirements. Although you can submit your interest within Volunteer Central, please make sure to read the position description carefully, as there may be additional requirements to submit your application.

The deadlines for responding to this Call for Volunteers depends upon the position, and positions are posted throughout the year. Please note, the application deadline for the 2018 NASPA Annual Conference Leadership Committee Subcommittee is November 3. Your thoughtful responses to the questions posed on the form will be read carefully and will help us seat the most appropriate, diverse, and inclusive teams possible.

Throughout my career, my volunteer roles with NASPA are among my most meaningful personal and professional development experiences. I hope to work with you to make the coming years an outstanding success for both NASPA’s members and our volunteers. If you are currently a NASPA volunteer, THANK YOU. If you have open positions, please post them to Volunteer Central. If you have questions about the tool, please connect with your staff liaison or the NASPA office.
