Applicants Sought for Book Review Editor of the NASPA Journal About Women in Higher Education

September 23, 2016

Application Deadline Extended to November 18, 2016

The NASPA Journal About Women in Higher Education (NJAWHE) seeks applicants for the position of book review editor. The official term is for three years beginning March 2017. The selected candidate will work with co-editors Amy Bergerson and Margaret Sallee.

Scope: NJAWHE is published three times a year in both print and electronic formats. The journal focuses on issues affecting all women in higher education: students; student affairs staff; faculty, and other administrative groups. It is intended for both practitioners and researchers, and includes articles that focus on empirical research, pedagogy, and administrative practice. It is designed to increase interest in research about women faculty, students and administrators in higher education and to highlight current examples of this research. NJAWHE offers research reflecting a variety of paradigms and issues affecting women in higher education in all their diversity. It is published by NASPA, the foremost professional association for student affairs administrators, faculty, and graduate and undergraduate students, in collaboration with Taylor and Francis.

Qualification and Requirements of Candidates: The book review editor shepherds book reviews from solicitation through publication. The book review editor is responsible for identifying and procuring books for review, soliciting reviewers, and working with authors on one or more drafts of reviews. The journal prides itself on providing developmental feedback to authors in all stages of their careers; such an expectation carries over into book review feedback. Candidates for the position should enjoy seeking out new texts for review as well as working with others on their writing.

How to Apply: Applications should be submitted online at http://apps.naspa.org/cfp/evt_frm_user.cfm?event_id=540.

Applications should include the following:

  • A brief statement of the applicant’s interest in the book review editor position, including relevant experience and vision for the book review section of the journal
  • Curriculum vita

Applications will be reviewed immediately after the submission deadline date.
