The Campus Safety and Violence Prevention Knowledge Community (CSVP KC) has two exciting opportunities for NASPA attendees.  The KC is excited to talk to you about leadership opportunities and the direction we are headed for the upcoming academic year!  With the changing political climate in higher education we want to build a social network of colleagues to ensure we share best practices and continue to be the leader in campus safety and violence prevention measures.  We would like to personally invite you to attend the reception and/or the KC meeting if you have an interest in this area or it’s a part of your job function.  If neither applies to you we would still love the opportunity to meet you at one or both of our events:

·         Title of Event: Campus Safety and Violence Prevention KC Meeting

Venue: Grand Hyatt

Room Assignment: Crockett D

Event Start Date and Time: 3/13/2017 3:00 PM

·         Title of Event: Campus Safety and Violence Prevention KC Reception

Venue: Marriott Rivercenter

Room Assignment: Conference Room 10

Event Start Date and Time: 3/14/2017 2:00 PM

If you are unable to join us for the above two events the Pre-conference is available before the annual conference starts; this year’s theme is The Intersections of Campus Safety and Social Justice.  We will take a closer look at the role campus safety can play as campus environments strive to create policies and procedures that support social justice.  You can add the pre-conference onto your annual conference registration and it will take place on March12, 2017 from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM and located in Convention Center 007 A.

And finally we would welcome you to attend one or all three of the sponsored KC programs.  These sessions are designed to provide recommendations and best practices to support campus safety and violence measures and interventions.  The sessions that are Campus Safety and Violence KC sponsored are:

·         36677 - Behavioral Assessment and Intervention Teams: A How to Approach
Monday, March 13, 10:00 a.m. - 10:50 a.m.
Grand Hyatt, Lone Star A

·         38193 – Shared Responsibility & Shared Success: Exploring Opportunities for Collaborative and Effective Prevention of Sexual and Dating Violence

·         38025 - Developing a research based framework for hazing prevention
Monday, March 13, 1:15 p.m. - 2:05 p.m.

We hope that you are able to participate in one of the many events/sessions that will be offered during the annual conference to learn more about the Campus Safety and Violence Prevention Knowledge Community.  See you in San Antonio!
