Be a part of something bigger than you. REGISTER NOW FOR #CLDE17.

As we start a new year, two poignant facts ring true for many higher education faculty and practitioners as they ponder the current state of higher education: our students and communities are too often struggling, and engaging in democracy is more important than ever.

These seemingly unrelated points converge when we consider how affected our communities have been since the announcement of our president-elect. However you feel about the election outcome, there is a space in higher education for our communities to be active, to listen, and to engage in new and deeper ways across differences, political and otherwise.

The American Democracy Project (ADP), The Democracy Commitment (TDC), and the NASPA Lead Initiative are committed to advancing the civic engagement movement in higher education. Together we will work to ensure that students graduate from our colleges and universities–both public and private–prepared to be the informed, engaged citizens that our communities and our democracy need.

Furthermore, by developing our emergent CLDE theory of change, we demonstrate how higher education serves a greater need that has a reach far beyond our campuses; in fact it is the basis of our capacity to change the world through our students. We urge you to be a part of something bigger than you by presenting or by being a steward of learning and participating at this year’s convening of change.

The 2017 Civic Learning and Democratic Engagement Meeting (CLDE17) is being held June 7-10, 2017 at the Baltimore Waterfront Marriott, in Baltimore, Maryland.

The deadline to submit a program proposal to this unique professional development event is Monday, January 30, 2017. By presenting on these important topics with your colleagues, you will help advance important work in higher education.

Register by now to get the best rates.

Thank you for your commitment to advancing civic learning and democratic engagement in higher education.
