Costumes and Parties and Fun… OH MY

October 27, 2016 Enriqueta (Queta) Rodriguez

Halloween has always been my favorite holiday of the year. I love everything about the Halloween season. The candy, the decorating, the scary movies and of course the costumes. Oh how I love dressing up! As a kid, my favorite thing was going door to door and watching as my stash of candy quickly grew. Up until high school I never missed trick-or-treating. However, traditions change as you get older. As a college student, I have not gone out trick-or-treating, but I still go out on Halloween.

College campuses are the places to be on Halloween weekend. People are walking the streets dressed up from head to toe. There are parties going on at every corner, and people are rowdier than usual. Some of my most memorable moments from my college career have taken place on Halloween weekend. Now, although these parties can be a blast, it is important that you remember to have fun responsibly.

Here are some tips and tricks on how to have a fun night while keeping yourself safe.

1.      Dress comfortably! – Ditch the 6 inch stilettos and blinding masks! You are more than likely going to be walking a lot, so it’s important to be comfortable in your costume and be able to see where you are going.

2.      Stay with your group! – The buddy system never fails. Make sure that the group you started with is the group you end your night with.

3.      Charge your phone - Make sure you have your friends’ numbers on speed dial in case your group splits up.

4.      Watch what you drink – Don’t ruin a good night by drinking too much, and most importantly don’t leave ANY drinks unattended.

Treat yourself to a fun and safe Halloween.
