KC Spotlight - Parent and Family Relations (PFRKC)

Hello, IV-West Family!

As a parent of a college student and a non-traditional student myself, it has been exciting to serve as NASPA IV-West Parent and Family Relations KC Representative and be a part of this team. My role in Student Affairs continues to serve students, involve parents and connect family members through various programs and venues. This knowledge community is similar to all other KC’s, joining Student Affairs through supporting networks for student successes.  Families are students' personal sustenance, packed with provisions and critical components vital for transitioning to and through college successfully.

The PFRKC Leadership Team meets via conference calls once a month and publishes a quarterly newsletter.  Most recently our last conference discussions included the following:

Connect with PFRKC Membership via blogging, social media presence (Facebook & Twitter), emails and conference calls.  We are also exploring concepts for a Mix and Mingles event and Pre-Conference Proposal for 2017 NASPA Annual Conference in San Antonio. Our summer newsletter will be released soon for the fall. There will be relevant information published regarding opportunities, information and suggested events you can utilize as you connect with students across your campuses.
