We are a little over one month away from the 2017 NASPA Annual Conference in San Antonio! The NASPA Foundation has released a new opportunity for Knowledge Communities to engage with the NASPA membership to fund endeavors through individual donations.  This program is the NAPSA Foundation Special Interest Fund. Currently, as an individual member, you can specifically designate your funds to go to support the work of the Latino/a Knowledge Community or the Gender and Sexuality Knowledge Community. This is a brand new initiative and in time, other KC’s will follow suit.

Another new initiative you might have missed is NASPA, in partnership with the NASPA Foundation, announced the Innovation Grants Program. Conferred twice a year and to be used immediately, the Innovation Grants provide awards to support innovation, exploration, and development for NASPA members, regardless of campus membership affiliation. With three levels of grants of application round, ranging from up to $1,000, $1,000 - $3,000, and $3,000 - $5,000, these funds are intended to provide the scaffolding for NASPA members to implement innovative ideas that lead to student learning and success. The Innovation Grants are for designed for student affairs practitioners to be used on your campus. They are funded by and for NASPA members, through gifts to the NASPA Foundation.

NASPA strives to be a champion and role model of innovation for higher education and student affairs associations, and this program is informed by the NASPA 2015-2018 Strategic Plan, as well as our four guiding principles of integrity, innovation, inclusion, and inquiry. The next round of applications will be opened in April to be awarded in fall. More information can be found here: https://www.naspa.org/foundation/awards/innovationgrants

Look for the NASPA Foundation Booth in San Antonio! In an effort to meet the needs of members, raise awareness of the Foundation, and encourage member involvement, the Foundation is hosting a few new programs at the Foundation Booth and hope you will consider participating. The Foundation will offer a variety of available speakers on a variety of topics for participants to bring to campus. Rather than being auctioned, these sessions will be available at a fixed cost, with the speaking fee benefiting the NASPA Foundation. In addition, attendees have the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets for a change to win a select number of prizes. Members can buy one ticket or several and select the items they would like to chance to take home. We will be open Monday, 8:00a.m.-5:00p.m. and Tuesday, 8:00a.m.-2:00p.m. in the Convention Center.

These are just a couple initiatives the NASPA Foundation is providing for its members through your generous donations! #NASPAgives is the Foundation’s annual fund. Gifts of every size come back to the profession in scholarships, grants and awards. Have you made your donation yet? We would like to again meet our goals of number of donors as well as the dollar amount so we can continue giving back to the Region IV-W research funds in support of our members. To date, IV-W has reached 47% (47 of 100) of our donor goals and 52% ($9,443 of $18,000) of our dollar goal. Please take a moment now to make your pledge: https://interland3.donorperfect.net/weblink/weblink.aspx?name=naspa&id=7
