Synergy Spring 2018

Student Affairs Partnering with Academic Affairs
May 18, 2018 Dr. Nkenge Ransom-Friday

As the profession of student affairs continues to evolve to meet the needs of diverse learners, many areas within the field have been streamlined to emphasize cross-departmental partnerships designed to impact retention and overall academic success. While our commitment to the development of the whole student is paramount, the field has changed from years ago.

Trends in higher education impact the important work of student affairs and we must continue to educate campus leaders and our non-student affairs colleagues on the importance of this contribution to student success.

As professionals, we must broaden our understanding of student engagement and success while seeking updated information from colleagues immersed in researched and practitioner based work. The efforts of our profession have strengthened student retention efforts via collaborative interdepartmental partnerships.

We encourage professionals to dive deeper into the topic of high impact practices and service learning in this edition of Synergy. http://apps.naspa.org/files/Synergy_Spring_2018.pdf
