Welcome from Region II Coordinator, Jessica Cabrera

Dear Fellows,

On behalf of the NASPA Undergraduate Fellows Program and NASPA Region II, congratulations on your admittance to the program and welcome to the field of student affairs!

My name is Jessica Cabrera and I am honored to have the opportunity to serve as the Region II NUFP Coordinator! I was a NUFP fellow from 06-08 while attending Alfred University. My mentor was Kathy Woughter, VP of Student Affairs at Alfred University. Ms. Woughter is currently the NASPA Region II Director.  In addition I participated in the Summer Leadership Institute in 2007 at Texas A&M University. I completed my graduate work at Teachers College, Columbia University. I currently work at Bronx Community College – CUNY as an Academic Advisor for the Accelerated Study in Associate Programs (ASAP).

As an alumna of the NASPA Undergraduate Fellows Program I can attest to the importance of having early exposure to the field of student affairs as well as a dedicated mentor. Without the program I cannot say that I would have a career in higher education. The program provided me with on/off campus internships as well as regular attendance to national conferences. My hope is that through this program you will take advantage of these opportunities. Which will aid in affirming your decision to pursue a career in this field.

As your NUFP Region II Coordinator I am here to serve as a resource to you and your mentor. Please do not hesitate to contact me. We have a lot plans in store for NUFP Region II and I cannot wait to share them with you. I am excited for this journey you are about to embark on.
