Please join us, Wednesday Oct. 24th at 7:30 p.m. at the conference hotel for the third annual Women's Words of Wisdom Dessert Reception. This event provides an opportunity for women in student affairs to socialize and hear from outstanding women in the field providing words of inspiration in the hopes of supporting our female colleagues at all levels of their career. Phenomenal women, we believe to be role models in the field, will provide a 5 minute prepared SA Speaks style presentation to participants about lessons learned, motivation, inspiration, or anything else she might feel would be beneficial in sharing with women as they make the journey of their career path. To showcase the women who will be speaking this year in Wichita, KS, we will highlight them leading up to the conference. For our third installment, we are thrilled to share with you Precious Porras.

Precious is the Assistant Vice Provost for Diversity & Equity and the Director of the Office of Multicultural Affairs at the University of Kansas. Precious, proud to be a first-generation college student, earned her B.S. in Psychology and Sociology from Northwest Missouri State University in 2002. In 2004, Precious Porras received a M.S. in Counseling/Student Personnel from Emporia State University. Currently Precious is in the final stages of completing an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership & Policy Studies in the School of Education at KU. Precious was a TRIO participant (Upward Bound & Student Support Services) and is very passionate about increasing access to higher education for underrepresented populations, including low-income, first generation and/or students of color.  When not at work, Precious enjoys reading, playing board games with her husband and playing with her new puppy Stella.
