Fair Labor Standards Act

  • Read more about this opportunity here. Registration is now closed.

There is much discussion in higher education about the Department of Labor’s final rule on overtime pay, which goes into effect on December 1, 2016. At that time, the new salary threshold for guaranteed overtime will double from its previous level under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA.) Many colleges are struggling with its compliance and best practices to do so, whether it’s reorganizing staff, raising wages, or switching to hourly pay-scales—all of which have potential impacts on work culture. This event will feature panelists from Human Resources, Student Affairs, and Public Policy to discuss the FLSA update itself and strategies that community colleges are employing to enforce it on their campuses.

Panelists: Dr, Chemene Crawford, Dr. Bill Dial, and Dr. Andrew Morse
Moderator: Michelle Dimmett

Join us as we discuss strategies to do so, even amid budget cuts and uncertain funding.
