Registration

In an effort to create a meaningful and personal experience for you, enrollment for this institute is limited. As we expect the Institute to reach capacity quickly, applicants are encouraged to submit their applications as soon as possible once they are available.

Please be prepared to complete an application and attach a current C.V./resume. Participants should plan to arrive by Sunday, November 17 at 8:30AM to check-in with the Institute starting promptly at 9AM. The institute will run 1.5 days. Monday will hold sessions from 8-10:30AM.

We wanted to make this institute as affordable as possible. Part of this institute is to make sure that folks can create a network to bring forward at the regional conference. We recognize some folks cannot afford to go to the entire regional conference so, it will not be required that you sign up for the regional conference in order to attend the Ubuntu Institute, however we strongly encourage those who can afford to, consider registering for both the institute and conference.

Registration information will be provided with acceptance notifications. The fee to attend the institute is $150.00. There is a separate fee to attend the Regional conference and separate fee for hotel accomodations. Again, please check out the conference website for more information on hotel fees. While it is not mandatory to attend day two of the institute, many of our participants asked that Ubuntu be a two day institute.

Registration as a member is based on individual membership status. You must be a member of NASPA to apply to this institute. Membership gives you the conference registration and a year of membership for less than the non-member registration fee. Visit the Membership section of the NASPA website to learn about membership types.

Scholarships are available to participate in UBUNTU, but please note that they are limited and may only partly cover costs.

Faculty

Ubuntu uses the word, Advocate instead of faculty. Advocates are responsible for creating the content for their identity based groups. Each identity based group will meet throughout the institute. There are also a number of liaisons for the insitute. Please take a look at their bios for more information.

Speaker

The Ubuntu Institute is proud and honored to have Dr. Doris Ching be our keynote at the 2019 institute. A true pillar to the student affairs profession who has made a great impact on divresity and equity work not only at her insituitions, but for NASPA.
